What I Really Want for Father’s Day

“Tool Man” may be an understatement. But at least he tries.

I keep getting spam from Men’s Warehouse and Lowe’s telling me that I need to somehow rock a new suit and a tool belt to be a real dad. This is my first Father’s Day, but I already know that’s not my style. Here’s a fun little poem inspired by the marketing hype.

What I Really Want for Father’s Day

Don’t get me a tool.
Don’t get me a tie.
You don’t need to get me
anything you can buy.

I am a new dad
without much of a plan.
What I want more than anything
is to be a good man.

So show me and teach me
that when push come to shove
all a dad really needs
is a family and love.
